Once a major shipbuilding and whaling centre, Falmouth is now a typical Cape town - picturesque and charming. Wander down the lovely Main Street to soak up the delightful atmosphere and enjoy the countless shops and restaurants. Falmouth is the perfect base to take a day trip to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket, as the ferry terminal is here at the harbour.

Interesting places to visit include the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution - the research team of which was responsible for the discovery of the Titanic wreck back in 1985. The exhibition includes genuine footage of the discovery and you can step inside the full-size model of Alvin - the deep submersible sea craft that discovered the wreck. Woods Hole is home to America's oldest aquarium - featuring local fish that are also highly visible on the menus of some of Falmouth's excellent seafood restaurants!

The Falmouth Historical Society comprises the Julia Wood House and Conant House - which offer excellent period features. The Cape Cod Children's Museum has some great interactive exhibits and a planetarium to entertain the little ones!
