Rich in cultural heritage, Macon is the heart of Georgia and home to many Southern historical landmarks, including Hay House and Cannonball House. You can also visit the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. On the coast is Savannah, packed to bursting with history. Attractions include the Colonial Cemetery, houses that are more like museums than homes and museums such as Fort Jackson and Fort Pulaski. Jekyll Island is one of the golden isles on Georgia's Atlantic coast. One-time millionaires' playground, it is now a romantic retreat with fine hotels, gourmet restaurants and miles and miles of sandy beach.

As peaches are grown in abundance, peach juice, peach cobbler and peach pie are all regulars on the menu. Other favourites include buttermilk fried chicken, fried green tomatoes, Southern-style pork cassoulet and country ham.

Your hire car is perfect for travelling from city to city in the state of Georgia. When in Macon, Savannah and Jekyll Island, explore the sights on foot, by trolley bus or horse-drawn carriage!
