The "All" part of the all-inclusive can vary widely from one resort to another. Typical items covered in the package include ground transportation, meals, non motorized beach activities, entertainment and drinks. Activities and meals outside the resort are not included and of course, your gifts and any souvenirs are up to you to purchase. However, if you stay on the resort property, you generally will not have to pay for a thing. Many resorts strive to make everything as worry-free and relaxing as possible.

All inclusive holidays are becoming ever more popular, and a growing number of resort properties now promote all inclusive packages. Here are some of the points to consider in assessing these offers. . .

All meals will generally be included. However, some properties also include snacks between meals. While programs may cover all beverages – alcoholic and non-alcoholic – while eating and at a lounge/bar, they may not include bottles of wine when dining. Sometimes the mini bar may also be included!

When planning your all inclusive package holiday, determine whether tips, service charges and taxes are included in your final bill. Some properties offer options where you can choose whether to tip on your own or to automatically have, say 15%, of food and beverage charges added to your bills at check-out.

Some all inclusive holidays are tailored for singles, others for couples or families. All inclusive family holidays usually have a range of activities for children included in the price. At some destinations, such as Jamaica, it's possible to move from one property to another within the hotel chain, under the same all inclusive price. These are known as dine-around plans. Such programs enable you to see more of a destination – but the cost of getting from one hotel to another may be up to you.
